Prior to his photography work, Doug was an apprentice feature film editor in Los Angeles, California and some of his credits include “Ultra Violet” at renowned B-movie director, Roger Corman’s Concord Studios, and "Canadian Bacon," directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker, Michael Moore.   Working at Concord Studios with editor Kevin Tent (“Sideways”) was an excellent precursor for Doug’s next role as the apprentice editor on Quentin Tarantino’s seminal gangster picture, “Reservoir Dogs,” and he worked closely with Academy Award-nominated editor, Sally Menke and Tarantino.   Directly following his tenure in the editing room, Doug embarked on a six year journey as the writer, director, and producer of the distributed shoestring feature film, “Born to Lose.”  Bands on the accompanying Bomp! Records soundtrack include Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers, Iggy & the Stooges, and the Zeros.

Throughout the 1980's, Doug produced the highest-rated radio show in Canada, Toronto Blue Jays Baseball, as well as broadcasts of the World Series across a national network of 110 stations.  He also co-produced "That Radio Show" with John Candy and engineered interview sessions with the rock band, Aerosmith.

As a hobby, Doug sings and plays guitar with his band, The Malcontents and has released four records and recorded with Clash and Blue Oyster Cult producer, Sandy Pearlman.  His last 7" vinyl release featured Dave Dunton, Greg Kuehn (Bob Dylan, T.S.O.L.), and Derek O’Brien (Social Distortion, The Adolescents).
